Hearing Evaluations

Columbine Hearing Care offers two different types of hearing assessments. A Basic Hearing Test and a Functional Hearing Assessment. Functional Hearing Assessments are recommended for individuals who suspect that they may have some degree of hearing loss and want to start looking for efficient methods to address their communication concerns.

Tinnitus Evaluations

Tinnitus treatment combines counseling and sound stimulation to retrain the way the brain perceives tinnitus. With patience and commitment to the recommended treatment program, most patients find relief from their tinnitus. There are several treatment options designed to train your brain to ignore the ringing in your ears.

What Our Patients Say

Frequently Asked Questions

Medicare Part B does not pay for hearing aids or any services related to hearing aids (including hearing tests related to getting hearing aids). Some private insurance carriers and some Medicare Advantage plans have partial hearing aid coverage or hearing aid discount programs. However, these programs are very restrictive and limit the care that we can provide, so we have chosen NOT to participate. Our number one priority is to provide excellent patient care, following best practices every step of the way and we will not allow insurance companies to restrict that care. Please see our page, Paying for Your Visit, for more information.

To have Medicare cover a diagnostic hearing test, you do need a referral from a doctor. Medicare only covers tests that are medically necessary, which means your doctor must document certain symptoms or reasons for needing the test.
Audiologists diagnose hearing loss through a complete hearing exam that includes several tests to assess how well you hear. After the evaluation, they’ll explain your results, identify the type and severity of any hearing loss, and recommend treatment options, like hearing aids, medical care, or other services.
The best hearing aid for you depends on your specific hearing loss, lifestyle, and personal preferences. There are many styles to choose from, each with its own advantages. An audiologist will help you select the right device based on your daily activities, comfort with handling small items, and how you want it to look.

Hearing loss often develops gradually, so it can be hard to notice at first. Some common signs include:

  • Frequently asking others to repeat themselves
  • Difficulty following conversations in noisy settings
  • Turning up the TV or phone louder than others prefer
  • Feeling like people are mumbling
  • Struggling to hear high-pitched voices (like women or children)
  • Hearing ringing or buzzing in your ears (tinnitus)
  • Feeling tired after social interactions due to the effort of listening

If any of these sound familiar, a hearing evaluation with our hearing care providers can help. Early testing and treatment can improve your ability to communicate and your quality of life.

Columbine Hearing Care is a self-pay clinic. Please see our Paying for your Visit page for more details.
